With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

CHIDI ANYAEGBU - I LOVE SERVING PEOPLE

THE billionaire behind Chisco Transport is a quiet man who is on top of his game. When we talk about luxury buses, he is unbeatable. But he has not always been in the business.

Chief Chidi Anyaegbu’s 24 year sojourn in the business of moving goods and people across Nigeria is an exciting story...

HOW and why did you settle for the transport business?

I like serving people. Transport was not my first business. I started as a spare parts dealer. From spare parts business I discovered that most of my customers waited for two, three days at times to go back to their base after purchase. So, after observing this for sometime, in 1981 I now decided to buy some vehicles for the transportation of my customers. From there, I now saw that the demand for that was much, that people were really suffering then. That was how we now started.

In that 1981, you started with only two buses. How did you grow the business to its present state?

We were borrowing money from the banks, and little by little we continued increasing the number of our buses. Again, because of our good services and judicious service of our loans, the banks were giving us more money. And we were getting more patronage from our customers because we served them well.

You started with only two buses, how many buses do you have in your fleet at the moment?

Fleet of buses. We have more number of buses now…
