With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

SEGUN OSOBA ON THE STATE OF THE NATION

Former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Segun Osoba, chatted with us recently on some burning national issues...

What is your take on the Ekiti State re-run election. Olajide Awe of AC said there was rigging in the election, that no re-run election took place in Ekiti?

There is no election any more. This country has gone to the dogs. I am shocked that INEC declared 36, 000 votes for Arise in an election where there was total low turn out, then you are scoring more figures than the re-run election of the governor. Doesn't that say a lot about INEC? In fact Nigerians have lost interest in the ballot box. It’s unfortunate.

With this type of situation, what do you think will happen in 2011?

I am very skeptical, unless Mr. President warns the vote robbers in PDP, then we should forget about 2011.

We are driving towards a one party state in Nigeria with the decamping of some state governors, what do you think about that?

It is most unfortunate that PDP is not alive to history. Their great grand father, the NPC of those days, tried it by dislodging and disorganizing the Action Group. It all ended in disaster. Their grandfather, Shehu Shagari tried to dislodge the UPN in the south west, that process ended in disaster because of greed. The children now, PDP are also becoming greedy. Nigeria is a multi-ethnic country, all these things shouldn't be, it shouldn't happen.
