With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

  ENCOURAGING TODAY'S YOUNG PEOPLE

It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in people. It is also better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in princes. How easy it is for us to believe that one great man or woman has the key to our blessings. How convenient it is for us to diligently trust man for promotion. Right? Wrong!

Life has thrown me several hard knocks. My hopes have been raised and dashed innumerably by family, friends and foes alike. Certainly, there might be some who would look at me and feel I raised and dashed their hopes too. This simply reveals the innate frailty of human promises.

Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo, who lost his wife on Sunday October 23rd 2005, confessed that twice, he was unable to keep his promises to his late wife, Chief (Mrs.) Stella Obasanjo. First, in 1995, when she was to turn 50, he'd planned to throw her a memorable birthday party. Unfortunately, on the said date, he was incarcerated in Jos prison by the military government of late General Sanni Abacha. Again, in year 2005, when she was to turn 60, President Obasanjo was planning a one-in-a-million birthday party to mark his wife's 60th birthday on November 14th. This never came to be, as Mrs. Stella Obasanjo died unexpectedly.

It is not in doubt that human beings may mean well for us. There are many people with good hearts and great intentions. There is also no doubt that there are many with deceitful motives and desperately wicked hearts. The point is, whether well intended or not, man in his best state is fallible, but the Maker of heaven and earth, the Omnipotent, Omniscience God of the Universe is infallible, constant, capable, unfailing, powerful, most reliable and absolutely dependable.

He knows the right answers to every question you may ask. He has the right key to every door. He is the one who has the key of David. He opens doors, and no one can shut them; He shuts doors, and no one can open them.

Any discerning individual will understand that it is indeed better to trust in the Lord with all our heart and never to see man as the answer to our problems. Whenever there is a need in your life, you should look upwards (to God) and not downwards (to man).

It is the prerogative of the God of heaven to look down at us and say, yes, my sons and daughters trust me. They deserve to be blessed. I am going to stir up the kings, the chief executive officers, the controllers of this world's wealth and treasures to bless and favour them. That is what I call spiritual protocol! God wants to take the chunk of the credit for every blessing you ever receive!

Undoubtedly, manna no longer drops from heaven. God is not particularly in the business of raining down food from the skies, although He just might decide to do so, whenever, however! These present times, he often uses human vessels. One minute's favour from the Lord will catapult a 'nobody' from obscurity to stardom. One second of divine opening will make you receive an unexpected letter of promotion, an un-lobbied elevation, an outstanding connection and linkage to greatness. Victory, joy, laughter, lifting, increase, favour and unusual grace await all whose confidence is in God and not in their human connections. It's high time you stopped looking unto your employer, your boss, teacher, mentor, leader, preacher, father, mother, wealthy uncle, aunty, cousin, daughter, son, in-law, spouse, friend, associate or political allies for blessings. Realize that promotion does not come from the east or west, but from the Lord. Absolute trust in Him guarantees that you will win against all odds.
